Another goal down 1 more to go

Vicki from season 6 Biggest Loser she still looks great

Its been a busy Month I have be training for the MS150 ride in Louisiana & to do my first Triathlon. This Saturday I completed the Tarpon Triathlon in Houma Louisiana It was a mini sprint triathlon 150 meter swim, 10ml bile & 5k run. I started & finished I'M HOOKED it was a blast, the people were great & it was one hell of a natural high to cross the finish line. My wife didn't do it she wanted to watch me do my first tri. She told me to do a race report so here it is
The dreaded swim- I say that because I swim like a rock. You would think I would swim good being from Louisiana hell 1/2 of the state is swamp or marsh I pretty much grew up on a boat fishing or on the beach in Fourchon Louisiana. But that's not the case until 1 month ago I had my wife teach me the proper way to swim & that is work in progress. Back to the swim it sucked I started off made 50 meters before I had to stop took about 10 second breather & off again I did this till 125 meters. I had stoped & was getting my breath in the corner of the pool so to stay out of the way of the other swimmers when one of the guys swimming stopped to tell me you got it big daddy 25 left if you cant swim drag your self on the side of the pool you got it keep going! With that I made it swimming not dragging & finished my swim. Going to transition I was wiped out.
The bike- After I got my shoes & helmet on I took off, The first bump I hit on the road & there go's my water bottle skidding across the road CRAP!! I was still to tired from the swim so I said screw it keep going I still had my power aid. I was happy to be on the bike I usually average between 17.5 to 19 mph well that is not after swimming I fought to get up to 15mph all I could think was come on lets go. It wasn't till the turn around I got my legs & started to get up to 18 19 mph I finish the rest of the bike with no problem.
The run-I left out of transition walking trying to get my legs back from the bike. "I haven't be able to do any brick work outs in a few weeks because football season has started I have to pic up my son everyday after work I was doing a brick on Wednesdays. 14mile bike with a 2ml run"
I started trying to jog & my calf's started cramping I stoped stretched them out. I fought my legs for about 3/4ml till my legs were good. After that I would rum for a wile then walk 10 yards & run again as far as I could go. I was feeling pretty good about 1ml in I see a lady running next to me I looked & was like hay I know her It was Vicki from season 6 Biggest Loser she talked to me for about a min. while running till I had to walk. More on Vicki later! Th last 1 1/2 ml I mostly ran & finished feeling good.
Vicki- I have to say during the Biggest Loser I did not like her.BUT I will have to say she was very encouraging to me on the run & after. Very polite & encouraging during & after the race. I'm glad to meet her & her husband Brady I have a different opinion of them now. I guess having TV cameras around you 24/7 could make people do or act different. anyway they were & are nice people. They have keep there weight off & look great. I hope to meet them again at another event.

My next & last goal for the year is a half marathon in December

Back again

This pic is my son & me after the fathers day 2 mile run in New Orleans
Riding the Tammany Trace with my wife

Couldn't resist this one my new puppy she wore herself out digging a new hole & took a nap
It's been awhile since my last post, my weight has been all over the place up 2lb-down 2lb- staying the same. Its been interesting but I'm working through it. It's been so hot down here I have been thinking allot of it is how much water i drink probably close to a gallon a day. I have been mostly riding my bike in the last 2 weeks I have rode over 100 miles, this weekend was my longest to date I rode 32 miles Saturday & 17 miles with a 2 mile walk today. With it being so hot riding my bike you can make your own A/C just pedal faster. I haven't weighed in lately I will Tuesday for Kim's (rode to beautiful@ world press) weight loss challenge. She started a few weeks ago its a good kick in the butt to keep me moving. This one is short & sweet it's time for bed 4am is just around the corner. Just remember keep moving it gets easier or just sucks less.

Back in the saddle

A few weeks ago I hit a rough spot in the road after some soul searching Ive again waken up & got back motivated. week before last I finally beat the bike from hell I had a P.R. I road for 20 miles I did stop 3 times to rest for a few minutes but I did the distance. Last weekend I was suppose to do another duathlon but the weather here has been crazy lately I didn't want to chance a 3 hour ride for rain so I did a local 5k (The Jambalaya Festival) It was a nice race not to many people I finished in 41:10 min I was happy with that since I have not been running or walking lately. My weight is back where it was before I had my gain so I'm feeling good. Today I had to write my weight down on a form at work & I didn't hesitate or lye about my weight I was happy to write it down that is a first. All in all I feel good about myself ready to tackle the next task

How about here ?

This is a very tricky process.

I feel Ive been loss the last two weeks. I have gained 7 lb's I have not been eating right & have been drained.

I have been looking in mind & heart for a sign to get me back on track

Well I found it!!

It seems to me when I get down I lose focus. I ran the Bubba Gump 5k in New Orleans 2 weeks ago my knee's & shin splints are killing me. I have been off my diet & gained weight. I have been riding my bike some to be doing something I have a duathlon in 3 weeks in Mississippi I will be doing. Im just tired of hurting. Up to 2 weeks ago I was 25 lb's away from having 100 lb's loss now Im further away! I looked in my sons eyes today & it reminded me what im doing this for I guess it was a kick in the ass for me.

Two steps forward

This has been a good weekend for me, I have always celebrated my weight loss when I have reached 10 pounds, Friday night I hit another milestone I am now in the 250's. 258 to be exact 28 more pounds till I reach 100 loss.

On Saturday my wife & I drove to Woolmarket Mississippi so I could compete in a biathlon. It was a small event the club that put the event on were well organized, very nice & supportive. I really enjoyed it & plan to do there next duathlon in May. My wife didn't race she is still nursing her blisters from the New Orleans 70.3 Tri.

The race started with a 5K run that had some small rolling hills with a lot of shade I finished the run in 39:10 that's my fastest time so far. Then off on the bike 11.3 miles it started off good for the first few hills but then they kept coming they were all small hills but you have to understand I'm from South Louisiana we have no hills. I keep going it was a nice ride through country roads all was OK till the final stretch of 2 miles with two big hills & a 15 mph head wind. I realized that bicycle + hills + wind= sucks. I did finish @ 1hr 43 min it felt good

I enjoyed the day with my wife we had a good time she will do the next one with me.

So I guess I did take two steps forward

I did it!!!!!!!!!

Me & My Wife
Finished at last

Chris came back to run me & my wife in after he finished

My bucket of bolts

Its been awhile since Ive last posted a lot of things have happen for me a lot of ups & downs. I have completed 2 of my goals, I did my first 10K run in Feb. with my wife & finished in 1hr 31min. It was a fun race I was able to jog about half of it & walked the rest. The only thing is I have problems with shin splints & was hurting for about 3 weeks after.

Last Sunday I competed in a Duathlon with my wife it was a 2 mile run 16 mile bike & a 2 mile run. I finished in 2hr 18min I have to say I think im hooked the feeling I had crossing the finish line was like no other I have had during a 5K or 10K. It was a damm I can really do this! The first 2ml run was good I keep a 12min mile pace witch is a pr for me i felt good. Before sunday my longest ride on a bike was 6 miles on flat ground this was 16 miles with a few hills. Getting off the bike in the transition area wasent fun I had charlie horses in both calfs & still had 2ml to run, I walked the first mile till my legs got better after that I jogged/walked with about a half mile to go my friend Chris came back after he finished to run me in Chris is one of the people who has inspired me to go for these goals he has lost over 200 lb's doing triathlons. It was a great day for me I will definitly do more I guess next will be a triathlon for me as soon as I learn to swim good.

My last goal was to finish a 5k in under 40min, Today I did it 39min 45sec this was a goal that I thought would take me a while to complete I was shocked. I felt on top of the world.

Tommorow I will be bringing my wife to Lake Charles La. to watch her do a sprint triathlon, It will be interesting the temp will be in the low 40s & she will have to swim wearing a wet suit.

My wife will be competing in the New Orleans Half Iron Man on April 5 I cant wait to see her finish this will be her biggest race to date. She rocks
